Buying a second-hand book produces only a fifth of the carbon emission used when producing a new one. For this reason, buying used books is an incredible green alternative that benefits both the wallet as well as the environment. In episode one of our podcast Green is Easy we talk more about the green practices of the book company Metabook.

Based on the idea of prolonging the life cycle of books, they offer an easy-to-use website on which people can sell and buy used books in just a few clicks. Not only does this avoid using unnecessary resources that are used when producing new books, but it also lowers the CO2 commissions caused by the transportation of books by offering hand-to-hand delivery options. Further, this green business idea does not require having a physical office. Instead, everyone can work from home, resulting in no commuting, and no extra energy for maintaining an office. Together, these small and easy efforts can add up to impactful results.
