Creative Writing Workshop: Reimagining Classic Fairy Tales
On Thursday, October 2, a two-hour creative writing workshop was held at the premises of HYP. The workshop was dedicated to reimagining stereotypical characters from classic fairy tales.
The activity invited participants to reflect on what might happen if well-known characters such as Snow White, the prince, or the evil stepmother were portrayed in a different light, gaining more complex, human, and unexpected dimensions. Through guided creative writing exercises, participants explored alternative narratives, challenged established stereotypes, and experimented with new perspectives and storytelling approaches.
The workshop provided a safe and creative space for self-expression, encouraging imagination, critical thinking, and open dialogue. The participatory process highlighted the power of writing as a tool for personal empowerment, as well as a means of re-examining social roles and narratives that are often taken for granted.
The workshop was co-funded by the European Youth Foundation, within the framework of supporting initiatives that promote creativity, youth participation, and the development of critical thinking.
The activity concluded with a positive impact, offering participants a fresh perspective on classic fairy tales and reaffirming the role of creative writing as a powerful medium for expression, reflection, and social dialogue.
