  • Topic: Traditional fables connecting young people through theater
  • Place: Abroad
  • Duration: September 2022-October 2022

From Aesop to La Fontaine is a creative project with a total duration of 2 years, from September 2020 to October 2022. The partner organizations were Artemista from Italy, Bilgi ve Beceri Dernegi from Turkey, Hellenic Youth Participation from Greece and Zorro et Compagnies from France.

The project was transmitted to the local communities and the participants through local actions in each country and the facilitation of 4 international exchanges in Turkey (July 2021), in Italy (October 2021), in Greece (February 2022) and in France, (April 2022).

The activities of the project included the collection and analysis of texts for the preparation process, as well as the creation of an interesting multilingual performance that was influenced by the works of three authors, Aesop, Phaedrus and La Fontaine, along with popular traditional tales. The creative process of the play was separately implemented by each country. Afterwards, the different outcomes were compiled into a unique piece of performance that was presented to the public, with a duration of  60-75 minutes. The performers of this collaborative project were the young people. Moreover, the multilingual aspect of the play aimed at the understanding of the audience.

This piece of collaborative work and performance was implemented in each participating country during the 4 successive mobilities, at the preparation stage.

The learning outcomes of this project had the multicultural aspect as a primary target. The participants and the people involved in this project had the opportunity to research about famous authors and interact with their work, cultivating their knowledge of literature and getting to know their culture more in depth. Also, the performance required a lot of teamwork and cooperation, as well as a tap into their creative abilities. In order to implement a performance, they stepped out of their comfort zone and immersed themselves into a unique experience, bringing to life timeless pieces of literature for the local communities to see and interact with, in a multicultural environment. They also enhanced their linguistic skills, as they used english as the working language and learned words and phrases from the countries.

"From Aesop to La Fontaine" project  was co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union from September 2020 to October 2022
