Youth For Future

"Youth For Future" was implemented from 17.01 to 25.01.23 in Riga, Latvia and the mains topics were:

  • To use drama tools for breaking the ice, teambuilding, developing communication skills, physical warm-up, group dynamics and encouraging creativity in order to empower and support the expression of young people with minority, refugees and migrants background.
  • To brainstorm on problems which the youth workers who participate in the project face in their daily work with youth from minority, refugees and migrants background.
  • To motivate others through own examples of successful stories.
I would like to express my special thanks to HYP for this unique experience in the beautiful capital of Latvia.
We were given the opportunity to interact with people from many parts of Europe and beyond. Some of the topics we discussed were about minorities and the social problems that each country faces and possible ways to deal with them. We discussed the Stanislavsky method but also other theatrical methods of expression and presented short plays. We also tried to cultivate our emotional intelligence by putting ourselves in someone else's shoes and seeing life through another perspective.
In conclusion, I would like to mention that even the things that seem impossible to us, can be done when there is an intention to cooperate and help within a group of people. -Renata

This project was beyond any expectations. I learned so much about different cultures, countries, religions. Although it was my first erasmus experience and initially i had many insecurities and hesitations, I quickly felt safe and comfortable, like a part of a big loving family. This helped me be myself, take more initiatives and fully participate and enjoy the activities. I watched myself work effectively under pressure, being able to make quick decisions and practice problem solving, overcoming my shyness, producing many creative ideas, implementing them and communicating with very different people. Realizing I can do all these was a huge confidence boost and expansion of my comfort zone. My most special moment was during the last day, when we wrote kind words in each other’s backs and reading them afterwards, realised i had made true friendships. I am so grateful and touched by everyone who put effort for this project to take place. Riga is a stunningly beautiful city, as well. - Akrivi

Who would have told me that erasmus+ in Latvia in January with a maximum temperature of 0°C would be one of the best experiences of my life? I learned a lot of useful things about YouthWork, I met a lot of interesting and fun people, I visited a wonderful city and I've come back with a lot of motivation and full batteries. An experience I wish I could relive and highly recommend! - Joanna

In this project we developed acting skills through different activities, got knowledge about different problems in our countries, got to know Riga through the games, tasted traditional foods and drinks from different countries, made so many friends and finally- collected unforgettable memories together! - Youth Association BIID

Everything was so unexpected as always. You never know with whom you're gonna connect the most so standing back and watching the situation evolve as a spectator, it's pretty bizarre how the connections between people happen at the same time as with the whole group. We had so much fun during the theatrical sketches and through fun came some knowledge and awareness as well. The organizators were great, the trainer as well even though she was a bit strict but you need to be strict with 50 people, from which, more than half were teenagers through their adulthood. Otherwise control and timeline is gonna be lost instantly i suppose. The activities were way out of my comfort zone and I like it when that happens. I had the opportunity to evolve a completely untouched dimension of my life. I would love to keep in touch and rejoin them in another project. We reconnected with some Latvians from another project as well and we recorded a track again. In a nutshell, I have no complaints. The only thing I would change is the weather. -  Giannis

The project "Youth For Future" was co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
