Advocacy for youth

"Advocacy for youth" was implemented from 25.03 to 02.04.2023 in Bruntál, Czech Republic, and the main objectives were:

- To use drama tools for breaking the ice, teambuilding developing communication skills, physical warm-up, group dynamics and encouraging creativity in order to empower and support the expression of young people with minority, refugees and migrant’s background.

- To deepen understanding about cultural differences and institutional racism.

I really enjoyed this training course in Bruntàl. We were able to learn about the situation of each country with the refugees and how to include them drastically in our society. The best experience was when we visited the school in Bruntàl because it's very different from ours. My favourite moment was actually each night when we were hanging all together! – Katerína

The experience of the Advocacy for Youth program was unique. Surely, it will leave my heart warm for quite some time. Within 8 days, I was given the opportunity to meet people from different cultures, some of whom I can now call my friends, and broaden my horizons. We exchanged views on minority groups in our country, our prejudices and developed solutions for the inclusion of these people into society. We developed other practices related to theater and the inclusion of refugees through theater. We learned the Stanislavski method  (use it in the theater), and we expanded our creativity. We also visited a primary school in Bruntal and got to know how the education system works in the Czech Republic. Overall, I got to know both Czech and other countries' traditions, broadened my communication skills and ways of approaching people belonging to a minority, and developed empathy and respect by seeing through their eyes. – Rafaéla

The most “colourful” experience of my life! I never thought that the decision to participate in such a project would give me the opportunity to share moments with such talented people, to discover myself and to make a big personal decision for my future. It is not an experience that can be described in words but in feelings!I can't wait to experience it again and I am grateful for every moment!- Despoina

I only have to say the best words about this trip. It was an experience full of life, laughter, love, learn, friendships. One phrase that has a place on my head is ‘We learn as we go’. I think is wonderful to understand the difference between live the life and just exist in it. In that way, you – and by you I mean everyone – learn how to live, learn how to communicate, interact with other people, finding what give you strength, or what reduce your energy, learn stories from people from other cultures, learn to be more tolerant about things that you know that matter. Listening and getting in touch with people who have lived as refuges gave me feelings I didn’t know that I had. First and foremost, I start appreciating more life, I start value the life differently. The first thing I told my parents about this program was that I feel more optimistic about life and I regret being grumpy a lot of times and secondly that this trip fed my heart. - Basía
