Project: From Rural to Plural

Location: Brasov, Romania

From 17-26th of January, two participants over the age of 18 got to join a training course in Brasov, Romania. They got to learn how to connect with young people in innovative ways, while learning about the situation for youths in rural areas across Europe. 

The objectives of the training course was for the participants to:

👉Understand the problems faced by young people in rural areas across Europe.

👉Teach participants effective ways to participate in youth policy-making so they can advocate for changes that benefit rural youths.

👉learn how to use both traditional media and digital platforms to raise awareness and promote initiatives for rural youths.

👉improve their capacities as youth workers and professionals, so that they can more effectively advocate and support rural youth in their countries.

👉Meet others in their field, exchange ideas and create partnerships to support the empowerment of rural youth, under the umbrella of the European Youth Village.

The two participants, Maria and Anastasia, gave us some comments on how they experienced the training course:

Anastasia:

Recently I took part in the training course From Rural to Plural in Romania. It was an excellent opportunity for me to develop my skills in an international environment with people from 13 different countries. Through intense sessions, we delved into the issues that rural youths are facing nowadays, the specific steps and methods in creating youth policies, and traditional and digital tools to raise awareness on these issues. The study visits, workshops and intercultural evenings made the experience both educational and impactful.

Maria:

The From Rural to Plural program, which I attended as part of Erasmus+, was a unique experience that broadened my perspective on community development and the importance of diversity. It was my first time participating in an Erasmus+ program, and I was truly excited because, through workshops and discussions, I learned about inclusive practices and collaboration in rural and urban environments across different European countries. A particularly special moment for me was working on a group project with my friends from Ukraine, where we designed a sustainability plan for a small village, applying everything we had learned.
