Holaaa,

My name is Γεωργία (Georgia)! Since February I’ve been living in Padul, a village outside Granada. These months here have felt huge, yet at the same time they have gone by very quickly. I work at Vale, the organization’s day center for people with intellectual disabilities, doing a variety of activities—sports, creative workshops, and mainly activities that promote social inclusion. Recently, I also completed my personal project, where we organized a living library in a primary school in a small village.

When I chose to participate in a volunteering program like this, I imagined I would get to know a new country, a new way of life, new people—mostly other volunteers. But I never expected to become so close with the locals and their families, to the point where I feel as if I’m at home, because honestly, I am home.

If someone had told me a year ago that I would meet all these people and that I would get to know and trust myself so much, I wouldn’t have believed them.

This, I believe, is the magic of ESC—you never know what will happen, and you may end up in a situation so good you couldn’t have even imagined it!!!
