Elli's Experience
Ciao tutti! I’m Elli, I’m a social worker, and for the past two months I’ve been in Genoa, Italy. The organization I work for supports the refugee population of Genoa and is called Ce.Sto. I work in the program that supports adult individuals who are alone in Italy, as well as families.
For me, this experience is very important because I can observe the way my colleagues work here, and I must admit I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how holistically the program’s beneficiaries are supported. The organization provides assistance with housing, education, health, material goods, and activities for both children and adults.
It is also a great opportunity for me to improve my Italian, since at work the language of communication is almost exclusively Italian. The city is very beautiful, and I am slowly starting to find my place in it and to feel it becoming my home.
