“‘Nature as a Classroom’ programme exceeded my expectations! It included lots of activities, time to reflect on them, theoretical models about the way we think and how our thinking can become more useful for us, and of course plenty of group discussions!
One part of the programme was a 2.5-day hike, which was mostly organised by the participants themselves, including staying overnight in nature. The last two days included reflecting on the hike and connecting what had happened with theories about group dynamics, leadership, team building, and more. Because these theories were linked to an experience we had all shared, they no longer felt like just theories—they became a way of understanding how we worked together as a group and how each of us acted as an individual.
It was a really beautiful learning and reflection experience! Personally, I learned a lot about myself and the people around me through meeting so many people from different countries, the hiking experience, and the lectures. I was inspired by the others and gained a new way of looking at life. Learning combined with nature is the perfect combination for me, so I feel very lucky to have taken part in this programme.
To anyone who's thinking about joining this programme, I'd say: go for it! You don't have to be sure that you can do it, because I wasn't either, and in the end it wasn't as difficult as I expected. What really matters is being sure that you want to learn. If you have that mindset, everything becomes a learning opportunity that's meaningful for you.”
